A friend of mine has been diagnosed with hypothyroid disorder and I would like to know what would be better:
1) Take a current thyroid stimulator (Cytomel, Levotabs, Levothroid, Levoxyl, and Synthroid)
2) Dieting and natural healing techniques?
3) both

I'm not aware of alternative medicine approaches to hypothyroidism. But if he is clinically hypothyroid, I would think that thyroid hormone supplementation would be the way to go.

I don't know why you're asking me. I want to see the biopsy to see if it's a correct diagnosis.

IMHO, dieting is always good advice to patients. They never listen, but it's good advice and will cure lots of things.

IN general, to be serious, evaluate thyroid function:
Check TSH: if elevated, check free T3, free T4.
If T3 and T4 are low, the solution is to replace it. Thyroid hormone is safe to take if monitored. Natural remedies are all placebos anyway (that's the cynic in me speaking).
