Hi frnds,
I am an IMG from India. My USMLE Scores are Step-1:82/201 and Step 2 : 82/200.
I am in a fix and dont know what to do. Am planning my CS some time in June-July 2008,and am planning to apply for 2009 match.
Is it worth it? Seeing my step 1/2 scores....will i match???
I dont have any issue about joining any of the residency programme in any field...
What should be my course of action???
Plz help!!!!!

blz you're a horrendous individual, go be a jerk in another thread...

Rahul, apply broadly and in non-competitive residencies, you'll definately find something. What do you want to go into?

Turk.

Thanx guys nd esp turk...medicine would be difficult i understand...but i have no issues with family medicine or psyche..

Rahul,

You are in a similar situation as my brother in law. He had exact same scores and was juggling to match anywhere in medicine. Here's what he did and I highly recommend this rather than rushing to match desperately. He emailed a bunch of preceptors to finally get a research position at an academic hospital close to his home. He worked very hard and impressed the preceptor who happened to know the PD very well. When he wasn't getting very many interviews she got him an interview and a successful match there. I think it will be better for you to either get a clinical or research experience under some well known person in the department with some connections. Having said that you may not have much trouble matching somewhere either through the match or scramble but it maybe at a place that is not desirable or difficult to live. Also, if you are thinking fellowships in the future then it is not wise to limit your options right at this point desperately going anywhere you get in.
