I just finished 2 weeks of DR/IR with a private practice group and really enjoyed it. I actually would really like to pursue the field at this point. The prob is is that I have only done these 2 weeks (which were outside of a residency program) apart from a week I did in IR at a residency program a year ago. Apart from all this, it is pretty late in the game. There is no way I could grab another radiology rotation in Oct at this point.

I am a competitive applicant at a DO school. I have great USMLE/COMLEX scores, some research, and I am at the top of my class. What are my options at this point? What can I do to still have a shot at this cycle?

No suggestions? Is there a better place I could have posted this? Am I just screwed at this point?

u could try and apply ASAP (along with whatever you already applied to). if you have the money to spare, you can just see what happens. being DO will probably hurt for most MD programs (although it shouldnt if you have great USMLE scores). u could try asking this on the forums at auntminnie.com about chances and which programs are more receptive to DO applicants.

Apply to all of the DO programs, apply to all of the MD programs in your region, and apply to community MD programs in other areas.

I know that several of the DO programs will take applications till the end of september, and while rotating is helpful, it is not a must. Especially if your board scores are good.
