I am trying to boost my science GPA. Will this work?

Hey guys. i was hoping somebody could help me with this. I am applying to dental school right now. I have already taken the DAT and my scores were AA/TS/PAT - 20/21/17. However my gpa is kind of low. I only have a 3.4 overall and a 2.89 sGPA. So i am taking Physics 2 and Orgo 2 online over this summer. I wanted to know if taking these 2 science classes will actually help me boost my sGPA. i am planning on sending my application before i am done with these classes, so would the academic update option help me???? Also i am planning on applying to about 20 schools.....🙁😕

Pat is low.... so check for cutoffs for schools. Rest is good.
Also check if schools will accept online pre-reqs. Schools will trust you when it comes to the classes you say you will be taking. The academic update is mostly just for the last semester.... they just want to see what you are for sure taking because they know that it is hard to plan for classes so far away.

LOL....Yea they will help boost your GPA if you do well!

From the AADSAS FAQ:

Q: What is the Academic Update?

A: Academic Update (AU) is a window of time when you can provide grades for courses earned since the original submission of your 2010 AADSAS application. During the Academic Update period, you can provide grades for courses from Spring 2009, Summer 2009 and Fall 2009. All individuals whose AADSAS applications have been sent to designated schools (application was previously completed and mailed) have the opportunity to take part in the Academic Update. The Academic Update period runs from mid-November through February 1. AADSAS will notify you approximately one month in advance of the opening of the Academic Update period.

If you choose to participate in the Academic Update, you will be permitted to update your coursework in your application and will be required to submit an updated transcript reflecting the new grades earned. Your revised application will be sent electronically to your designated dental schools after your updated transcripts have been received and verified.

If you don't have too many science credits and you do good in the classes, your science gpa will definitely improve.

science GPA is easy to increase since you dont take that many usually. and i dont know how yuppers says the rest is okay, sGPA is pretty low IMO.

I was refering to the other DAT sections. I forgot to say something about the sGPA.... you're right.

Call the schools up that you are applying to and see if you can send in an updated transcript directly to their office since the academic update doesn't open up until later this year.

Any online course through a CC would also substantially raise your AADSAS GPA. I know lots of people doing this.
