I just can't believe this,

Going to case western is gonna cost me in total 63400/yr
wowwwwww that's a lot of money, even an organization such as canhelp doesn't give that much loan/yr 🙄

mannnnn it went up from 54000 to 63000, well that's a jump really!!!

Canadian fellows, do you guys know of any scholarships that we are qualified for?????

SAL

Case western reserve university
2008

I guess most schools raise their tuition, especially public school bcos of their state budget crisis.
But a 9K increase is a lot for a private school.

Hey sally....now thats expensive!!! With that price, why dont you goto Boston or New York...you would have such a better student life/experience than in Cleveland!

About the scholarships...no dice...you could do a search, but imho, its not gonna happen...sorry to be so blunt....

To be honest, I thought CANhelp gave you as much as you needed....you may be misinformed and should look more into it...otherwise banks such as Scotia and CIBC woudl be good shots for private loans.....remmeber, going to school in the states is no walk in the park....please consider what you are going to have to go through after you graduate....

:wow: That's going to be (assuming 10% annual increases) a $293,000 education. Even if you discard inflation entirely, that's still a hell of an expensive degree. Props to you for your willingness to shoulder that kind of burden for your career aspirations.

Hi Guys,

maybe I should explain myself better....

63000 is including living expenses and instruments and everything..

The tuition alone is 37300, it was 30400 when i had my interview last year :0(

avingupta I thought canhelp give you 45000/yr max so that's not gonna cover all the expenses
I will try CIBC and bank of montreal and see...

I know going to Dentistry is not a walk in the park otherwise everybody would've done it 😉

I don't want to be the downer here, but have you factored exchange rates into your plans? That'll make it even more expensive.

if total cost is 63400 and tuition is 37300, then cost of living would be about 26000. Isnt this sort of high, especially for cleveland?

There would be other fees in there aside from cost of living i.e. instrument purchase (~$7k?) but that still leaves a large margin. Cost of living should only be around $12k.

yah I know the price you gave me was including living expenses, but that puts Case basically on par with all the other private schools....and I would choose Boston, Tufts, or NYU hands down over Case if I was gonna be paying that price! And Bill brings up a good point....gotta factor in exchange rate!

About CANhelp....Im pretty sure that they USED to give you only a certain amount, but now I think they give you the entire cost of education...(guess they were making more money off of this than they first speculated)

this is what I got from the following website:

http://www.internationalstudentloan.com/canadian_student/index.htm

How much can I borrow with the CanHELP Loan?

With the CanHELP Loan you may borrow from $500 up to the cost of education (including tuition and living expenses), minus any financial aid received. Our loan limits allow you to use the loan proceeds to cover education expenses, including tuition, room and board, and other college costs.

Same thing at UNLV. I get to spend 68k my first year since I am out of state. Ramen noodles for lots of dinners in the next 4 years.

You also have to factor in where you want to practice. I believe sally wants to practice in Washington state (if I remember correctly) and Case does offer the western boards, unlike the schools you mentioned.

HI guys,

well they put
37400 tuition
14200 living expenses (that's I think too much)
7500 Instruments
425 Lab fee
874 student health insurance
1620 Books
180 student activity fee

the tuition has increased alot but I think I can get by 12000/yr for living expenses!!!

itis a huge loan but I guess the school woth it although I still think it is a lot of money... my main goal is to become a dentist!! it is a tough love 😛

yaaa I want hopefully to work in washington state for couple of years as dentaldream said then return to vancouver...
we can do it dental dream just cross you fingers

Avingupta, if what you're saying about canhelp is true then that will make life easier!! by the way, which school you are going to??

SAL 😀

Case just started a new secretary method of scheduling, so it saves you time and headache. Trust me, this practice will make your life much much easier. I don't mind to pay extra 12k/year to take this headache away from me. ... but it is freaking cold up there.. 🙄
