I messed up my spring semester pretty bad, do I still have a chance?

the only thing you can do is get on a waitlist... or apply ASAP to another school.. you could get in under late registration

I messed up my spring semester and ended up with an F in ochem lab. I tried to sign up for the course again in the fall, but they are all full.

What should I do? I can definitely retake the class in the spring, but then the pharmacy schools I'll be applying for fall 09 won't be able to see my grades.

My GPA (3.6) might warrant their consideration, but I read on their websites that any grades below a C is unacceptable. 🙁

Please help! any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you!

The community college in my city does offer ochem lab, but it's not equivalent to the one I need and therefore won't transfer.

Talk to the chem department. They might have a wait list going for people who need to get into a lab. If they get enough people they might even offer another section.

Meet with the professor and get on a first name basis. Let him know what your plans are and how you would like a 2nd shot at the class. See if he can increase the amount of seats or if you can be at the top of the waitlist.

Don't give up hope just because the class is full. People add/drop classes all the time, keep checking the home page every once in a while and you might get lucky.

An easy way to do this is to just set your home page to the site where you would check. Worked for me.

I find it easier working alone.

Thank you for all the suggestions! Yeah I'm going to put myself on the waitlist, and if I don't get in the class I will retake in the spring. Hopefully the pharm schools will give me a chance to interview and maybe I can explain the situation then.

By the way, does anyone know if the adcom look at your cumulative or scientific GPA before offering interviews?

We had to have 3 partners for Ochem 1, and 1 or no for most experiments for Ochem 2. I really didn't like my ochem1 partners, but liked the guy from ochem 2, even though we only worked together for the 1st 2 experiments. He is still my bf over 3 years later. 🙂

I had a terrible partner during in genchem classes.I am glaaad we don't have to be lab partners anymore.(I did all the work).On a side note I am terrified of ochem lab... To the OP try to check the webpage of your college frequently. I was checking the list of classes randomly and was able to get into anatomy. (Which is full before even the registration starts.)Also find out when is the last due date for paying for registration. Usually there are always the spots open on the early morning of that day cause somebody didn't pay for class and computer drops people who didn't pay on time. I hope I make sence...
