Woo hoo!!! Finally after much indecivness, I'm going to major in History! I've also choosen my college, USAO! Woo hoo!!!

I will admit there was some slight hestitation when typing the title for this post because I was about to type something like, "I think I've found my major." But no I use to like and love History. In fact, a year ago that was going to be my major but I let the thoughts fade away. I still want to do some classes in Sociology, maybe work towards a minor and or a major one day. I'm also going to finish off my pre-med reqs. I will redo Organic I, do Org II, Physics II, and a Bio class and then MCAT April 06.

I feel good about this. Last night it kind of scared me because out of no where the ideal of History came floating into my mind and I felt so good I couldn't sleep. But I've been praying to God that this will be right for me. I'm not sure how else to feel, but I will enjoy doing History because its broad and I can do studies using Sociology and maybe even study the history of medicine or history of DO.

Thanks again for everyone's help because I was about to committ myself to majoring in something just for the sake of med school. I want and am going to do med school. But this is one of the few chances in life to study something unrelated to medicine.

So anyways thanks again all!

Scott,
I am so happy for you that you know what you really like and can major in that. History is one of the best majors if you are a history buff . I wanted to get a double major in history along with biology but couldn't as I was paying out of state tuition and that would have made me stay in school for more than four years. But i did got a minor in history (All for the love of History) and haven't regret it for a second.
But along with History and all the premed requirements do take Genetics/Biochemistry classes, it may help you preparing for MCAT.

Good Luck

Thanks, I'll definately do extra science classes to get an edge.

I'm getting a B.A. in History to go along with my B.S. in Biology at Texas Tech. Its nice, especially because it seemed to distract some admissions committee members away from some of my more dubious science grades 😀

Congrats on finding a major! You will definitely stand out with a history major when you apply to med school...someone who breaks up the stream of bio/chem majors.

(although history makes me :scared: )

Hey, cool avatar!

👍 congrats Scott. I am sure you will love history. I recently changed my major from bio to history and i am so much happier right now. But ya if you still are going for medicine make sure to take extra upperlevel bio classes, it will help, or so i think haha. Well congrats and good luck with all.
