I submitted my Duke supplemental two weeks ago (yes, I applied late), and today I was invited to interview. I was wondering if anyone knows what percentage of applicants they interview. On Startclass, it says that Duke interviews less than 9% of its applicants, but on Princeton Review's website, it says they interview over 30%. I'm not sure which to believe, and I can't find any of these numbers on Duke's website. Does anyone know where I can find this information, or is it typically classified? I'm just curious what my chances are, seeing as I applied late and heard back in just over two weeks.

Thanks!

They interviewed around 700 people (+/-50) last cycle out of a pool of slightly over 6000 applicants, so that's around 12% or so. Their class size is around 110, so they probably accept 175-200 people overall, so post-interview acceptance rates are probably around 25-30% or so, which is typical of schools of that caliber.

No one can tell you your chances right now. Just do your best and see what happens.

Okay, wow, thanks so much! I appreciate your input.

Yup I attended an info session by Duke Med today- according to last cycle stats, they interviewed around 750 for 180-200 acceptances and class size of 100-115.

One thing to consider is a number of people never bother actually finishing Duke's massive secondary app. Duke gets 6000 apps a year. The question is does that include completed apps with the secondary or just where people send primaries; my guess is it does include people who don't bother with secondaries but that's just a guess. That's one thing that could influence the difference in stats; particularly for a school like Duke with its exhaustive secondary application.

Also is the 750 figure the number of people they offered an interview to or the number of people who attended the interview. There's another source of variation potentially. If it is 750 people who they interviewed; the % of applicants offered an interview which is what you care about will be higher. If 750 is the number of people who were offered an interview including those who didn't take one, then the % of people who get accepted who interview will be higher than 25-30%(and from my understanding even amongst top 20 schools only offering acceptance to 25% of interviewed applicants is on the lower side of things although there are schools that have those type of figures).

They interviewed 750 and accepted a little under 250 (including the waitlist acceptances), if I remember correctly.
None of that matters to you, though; just go in and do your best. Hopefully I'll see you at the Parlour or Cocoa Cinnamon the night before!
