i have a 36O and 3.57 gpa, and I have only received 1 interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
With my stats, and good ECs and recommendations, why have i only received one interview? The interview is from pittsburgh...SWEET school.

But only ONE interview!? i was complete mid-late september and in some cases the processing wasnt done until october 10.

Where did you apply? What did you hear from TX?

you have answered your own question...you are in a lineup...just be patient, with your stats you will get lots more.

You'll be fine. Your numbers are good but they aren't STELLAR. Sounds like you went into this expecting schools to kick out the red carpet for ya. Doesn't work like that. I felt very fortunate to have the interviews and acceptances I got, as I didn't go into the process expecting a single one. They will come, though, as long as you didn't only apply to only top tier schools. I hadn't heard from UPenn, Harvard, or duke when I withdrew app, and UMich deferred me. This is with same MCAT, higher GPA, different but similar quality EC activities. So if you applied to only these type of schools, good luck to ya.

People shouldn't go into this process expecting something because they have a decent application. A lot of people have a decent application and I know quite a few people with stats much higher than ours that were sunk for a year bc they only applied to top schools.

i think a great idea would be to call the schools and tell them the same thing u just told us in your original post.

why do you have two trends for basically one post. it's annoying...

YOu should call the schools and remind them how great you are, and ask if they've forgotten to give you an interview. Quit your whining, there are plenty of folks who would kill for just one interview.

i heard back from the UT schools...interviewed there. but i am talking about AMCAS schools...
Are you out of state? Because then UT schools inviting you is good! Even if you are in state it is good!

i think what is really holding your application back is that O on the writing section

if i were you i would withdraw my applications and retake the mcat and reapply

HAhahahah oh man.

Sit tight. I have lower stats than you but the invites have been trickling in very slowly. I was complete between mid-August and mid-September.

I'm hoping the trickling will continue

...you're kidding. ?

Didn't you already start a thread about yourself? Did you really need to start a second thread?

Hell no, my dog could get an O by jumping on a CBT keyboard. RETAKE!!

I actually hadn't thought about this . . . with the new MCAT being CBT, is it necessary the essays be typed? Would this put non-touch typing pre-meds at a disadvantage?

Yup. The engineering majors can finally have an advantage.

Are there really people in our generation who still can't type?!?!?!

well to be fair if you weren't complete until september it makes sense why you only have one interview. Your app is a bit late in the cycle which isn't a death sentence but it might take til December or spring to get some interviews.

But its hard to tell with the limited info you've given us.

haha. Don't worry, I got this reference. Rob Schneider is.... "A Stapler!"

Ha. I love that episode. I double-posted by accident, so I had to put something in the second one.

Come outta dair now, child!

he's a little pretentious, but he's got an acceptance in hand. i think he has a little reason to be that way.

Good for him. Will my username really ban me?

Sorry if I am a bit obnoxious to you. I was pointing out to him that our stats arent perfect, so we shouldn't EXPECT everything from the process. That there is much more to an application than numbers and that just because you have said numbers there can always be flaws to your application and not to get cocky about it just because you think you are a great candidate. Makes ya set up for dissappointment. Sorry if ya find me obnoxious, we all have our dislikes and likes, eh.

I typically only post when I have something useful to say, on AA threads (I think people should try to see both views), or when somebody seems to be cocky about something and think they deserve more than another person...

Hey man sorry if I attacked you. I'm new to this forum and I've just been seeing a lot of negativity already, when we should all be encouraging one another. Seems a lot of kids post questions and get flamed for no reason. I do see your point and congrats on your acceptance.

Yourmom, my username was chosen b/c I just got accepted to the school where my fiance is an MS1 and I think the adcom there really took that too heart. So yes right now they are my God..especially since all these random cats been hitting on her at the libes.

People get flamed here for a couple of reasons: asking questions which could be answered by a simple search of previous threads and asking questions that give off an air of entitlement, everyone is on edge trying to get in and someone acting like they deserve it isn't met kindly.

The OP's question could have been answered by taking a quick look at the info for the people who took the august mcat and whose files were complete recently much like the OP's. Also some construed the OP's post as indicating a sense of entitlement.

My personal take is people should do at least basic research before posting to keep down clutter. On the topic of entitlement, I don't really care one way or another, but a lot of people here do.

This particular OP is extra obnoxious since he/she has posted this topic before in the last seven days in a different thread, and cluttered the board with a what are my chances thread of his/her own before that.

To the OP let me put it in terms a Trojan can understand, a thread topic is like a condom, only use it once.

[EMT, running up to OP]

Did someone call the Waaahmbulance?

How are you ec's? Are you sure that there aren't any lukewarm/negative comments in your lors?

By the way, don't start thinking that you're hot stuff with a 3.57 and a 36 on the mcat... once you get into medical school none of that stuff matters, and as far as I can tell how well you did on the mcat bears little relevance in how you're going to do in medical school. I guess that adcoms know this and take into consideration the entire package.
