Ok so I just finished MS1 year and I'm doing research on zebrafish over the summer. The thing is once I breed the fish, I then just have to sit at the lab for a few hours every day doing absolutely nothing until I feed them at five, and I end up just looking at facebook a million times a day.
I feel like I could be doing something productive instead, and I was going to see if anyone has any suggestions on things to study over the summer. Should I look over stuff for path and pharm next year, or like maybe go over the first aid sections I've already covered or my phys brs or what.

Just review physiology (BRS physio & course notes). Then when they talk about certain pathways being messed up (in path) or drugs acting on certain receptors (in pharm) you will know exactly the consequences/symptoms of said event....all you have to do then is remember the name of the disease/drug.

The amount of detail you learned in anatomy/neuro/histo will be of NO help during M2.....you could review it now only to forget it during M2 & then have to review it again for boards....might as well just do it once at the end of M2.

Good Luck

Get the Kaplan books (or whatever review books you like) and review/annotate anything you need into First Aid from your MS1 subjects. That way you won't have to even look at any review books for that stuff ever again. Just reading review books without annotating will be a waste of time because you are so far out that you will forget it all. If you annotate to the level that you can read FA and understand it then you are being productive. Otherwise just enjoy your summer and don't do anything. Pre-reading any MS2 topics would be about as worthless as trying to pre-read for MS1 before you even start med school.
