I haven't taken the MCAT yet, what date should I sign up for?

**sorry, I posted on this general forum but I've since then posted it on the sub-forum for test planning. If you want to chat please find me there or feel free to leave advice here if that's still allowed. I'm a newbie on this site.

So I have been slowed down quite a bit due to the Covid-19 frenzy. I don't want to make excuses though, I should have studied earlier obviously. So it's early August, and I don't even have the books yet. I'm ordering them today as I read more on it.

I was wondering if you guys could help me plan my test-taking plan. I have a 3.8 GPA, and I'm not bad at cramming. That's pretty much when I do the best is when I do things fast, though I don't also want to bite off more than I can chew. I've taken exams before but I don't want to underestimate the MCAT since it's a huge exam.

I have taken classes that are related to the MCAT, and done well, so is a 3 - 4 month study schedule possible? Also, when would I be able to actually enter medical school?

Thanks in advance!

3 months is sufficient. But I would recommend you go ahead and take a full practice test now so you understand the difficulty of this exam. You will understand what it takes after you see how hard it is for yourself.

if you take the MCAT this year, you could apply in May 2021 to start medical school Fall 2022. Good luck!

9/28 is the last day to sign up for the test. Sign up for March/April if you don’t wanna cram, but the earliest is January. apply next cycle, and if you get accepted you will start school in 2022.

Unless you think you have a really good grasp of the gen sciences, I wouldn't register for anything earlier than 9/28. However, even if you are that confident, I'd still suggest just waiting until January to take it since there's no reason to take it in September and rush things. For most people, 3 months is more than enough time.
