okayyy usually i just read posts and worry myself half to death but i just (5 mins ago) got back from taking the test! and of course i want to know what everyone thinks of my scores and whether or not i have a chance at making it into dental school. and in turn, i'll answer any questions about my testing experience!!!!

Perceptual: 19

AA: 18

gpa: 3.6
sgpa: 3.3
i work at a dental office 30+ hours a week as an assistant, college athlete, lots volunteer/comm service app went out today along with dat scores.

So will i get in somewhere?!?!??!?!?!

i am going to tell it to you straight. I think you should retake. Apply to many schools especially your state school. You may get lucky. the rest of your app has to be stellar. good luck

yeah they give you a print out. guess what! i'm not going to retake!!! i did apply to many schools, and obviously i dont have 20+ scores, but geeZ! nearly all the school avgs are right around 18 and 19. i'm not looking to get into harvard.

I know people that scored 20+ with high GPA's and they didn't get in, and I know people who scored 18 and had an avg GPA and got in. I think your background helps, so you have as good a chance as the next person. You just can never tell what the schools will do.

And... if you don't get in.... then you take a few science classes, bring up that part of your GPA and retake the DAT.

Good luck.

You scores are very good. I'm sure you will get in this year. having all 17, 18 is better than getting one 14 and 15 and rest 22 and above. So when some one says that they didn't get in, something else is wrong. Their GPA, Their DAT in one subject (usually people hide if they get less than 16) or their personality. I heard from a relaiable source that they failed a student with a GPA of 4.oo and DAT of DAT. Becasue he had an attitude which they didn't like. So if some one is a normal person, with normal good grades ( no dramatic events), they shouldn't worry at all. Don't listen to people who try to scare you. They are projecting their own fear. Good luck ,

Hey -
I might consider retaking. You never know what the schools will do. I had a 23 AA, 18 PAT and a similar gpa to yours, and didn't get in to what I thought was a shoo-in school. I now work at said school because that's where my husband is a student, and I see some crazy things go on in admissions.
