I just had an interview this week and is this a good sign?

Guys..

I had an interview this week and the interviewer literally said “I really want you to come here, I think you’d be a good fit for our community" which honestly made my heart skip a beat. But the funny thing is we didn’t even go that deep just the usual stuff like where I’m from and a few of my unique experiences.

But one thing that kind of caught me off guard was how fast-paced it was. He asked me like 20 questions in a 20-30 minute interview. Every time I tried to give one of my prepared 1–2 minute answers, he’d jump in with another question before I could finish. It felt more like a rapid fire Q&A. For example, he asked where I’m from and I answered, mentioned I like the weather here, and before I could even pause, he cut in with, “Oh, what do you do for fun when the weather’s good?” It went like that the whole time.

Since this is my top choice and it’s stuck in my head.. This was my third interview and I’ve never had a professor interview me like that before. Is this normal, or maybe just their personality? And is that kind of interview style okay?

Congratulations on your interview.

Since I don't know who your interviewer is, it's impossible to give you a definitive answer. I was fortunate many of my dental faculty interviewers were extremely personable, and they all loved interviewing candidates because you are literally the future of the profession. Good teachers and mentors are going to be naturally curious, and many dentist interviewers I have trained up are supposed to make you feel great about yourself and your fit with the school.

Of course, many such interviewers aren't sitting on the admissions committee. Many interviewers don't see your whole file including metrics. But dentists want their patients to enjoy their hour with them so they would come back. I mean, you wouldn't want to be a patient of a dentist that makes EVERY visit feel like pulling teeth.

Just remember, that's what love feels like. 😉

it's probably his style/personality...
