hey guys i just talked to some aadsas lady and she said that anyone w/ a W on their transcript receives a failing grade for that class even if it is repeated...i don't understand that because a W just means withdrawl...she even said that aadsas has two categories for W's.... a W (just meaning withdrawl) and a WF (withdrawl with failing grade) now to my knowledge they shouldnt be counting just a W as a failing grade because its just a W on the transcript....the WF should be counted w/ a failing grade...is this not making sense to anyone else....
anyone that has had a W on their transcript and already got their aadsas gpa?? can you tell me whats goin on here do they actually count W"s as F's?
thanks

I cannot stress enough how very incompetent most (if not all) of these AADSAS csr's are.. I just had a conversation with one this morning about a possible incorrect GPA calculation, and I am amazed at 1) how much they have no idea what's going on and 2) their their apparent unwillingness to help out at all costs.

Anyway, to answer your question, I wouldn't worry if I were you. Like I said, the person you talked to has no idea what he/she is talking about. W's will not be counted as F's in your GPA calculation.

I hate starting the day off by talking to AADSAS 😡 😀

That's pretty strange. Whoever you talked to is sorely mistaken. If you have an unofficial withdraw, then yes that will be an F. But a W doesn't count as anything. If it counted as an F I think the avg. GPA for dental applicants would drop significantly.

I'm truly getting sick of AADSAS giving out wrong/false information. Applying can be quite stressful for the applicants and you would think that they would actually try to get their OWN facts straight.

I think someone needs to write a petition to have them actually TRAIN their staff and then post it here for everyone to sign. 😡

I've been thinking the same thing... I really can't get over how much AADSAS customer service pisses me off, and it's not an easy task to get me upset! But then again, I guess stupid people are definitely one of my biggest pet peeves along with disrepectful people, and the AADSAS csr's I've spoken with definitely fit into BOTH of those categories. Hahaha, I'm gettin all riled.. I think I'll drown myself in some lunch 😀

yup i just talked to the manager....she kind of knew whats going on she said that only wf's count against your gpa and credit hours.....sorry to worry you guys
but also if you take a W in a class and then take the class and get a grade in it....does it count as a repeated course??
i know at my school that repeated courses are only classified as those which one receieves a grade and then takes again in order to receive another grade
whereas the grade W doesnt count you know

so is this the official thread to vent about AADSAS?

if so...

AADSAS just calculated my GPA and counted 7 credits of grad work as undergrad courses. when i called and reported the problem, the lady said "well, it doesnt matter since the cum GPA is the same!!" and i had to explain that 7 GRADUATE credits that i took for my masters are MISCOUNTED, is that NOT important??
well, after explaining the importance, the lady took note of it and said will get back to me. the problem is that they prolly wont send out my application until the problem is fixed!! how is that for submitting your application early?? it was ready to be sent out next week!

Hey Sunny-

I think it does count as a repeated course technically, but it will not affect your GPA like the traditional repeated course (averaging of grades and whatnot). Hopefully that makes sense, haha 🙂
