....which is under professional experience

Two of the things I have in there are:

"Helping family" & "Raising my brother"

I do have other stuff in that category, but how will they react to this?

🙁:scared:

It's a little odd, but I wouldn't call it huge, stupid, or a ruined application. So your thread title is very misleading. Go to bed and don't worry about it.

I agree with jeffity but if those are the only things you have on there it will most likely raise some questions as to how you actually contributed. For instance, if you put that you worked full time under work experiences then "helping family" will make sense.

The silver lining is that I'm sure that will stick out among the applicant pool.

Why in the world did it suddenly strike you that these two things were going to "doom" you?! Seriously, why would you consider these things strange now and not when you submitted?

It won't doom you. Granted, it could be weird if those were the ONLY two things you put, but they weren't. You're fine. That's a heck of a responsibility if you had to raise your sibling, and I'm certain it will be brought up in interviews--and in a good way. I bet you have a really good story about your journey to dentistry and your motivation to work in this field.

Plus, if you had to work to support your family as a whole, that also is nothing to scoff at. It will also be viewed in a positive light, I'm sure.

Don't sweat it. You're not doomed. You're fine. Stop freaking out! 🙂

look for the postive side 🙂 your app will stand out.

No. What you did was not a mistake of any kind, yet.

What if both your parents had to work in order to support the family, and you were -the only one/entrusted- to be the role model for and/or raise this individual?, What if your brother was handicap?, You get my point.

Assuming the interview is open-file, what you had placed on your application will most likely be raised during your interview(s). Here's the privilege and opportunity to honestly and sincerely testify on your own behalf of: "Helping family" & "Raising my brother." So don't waste it.

There's a reason why you must know your application in-and-out & backwards-and-forwards.

Don't give them answers on what you think they want to hear; give them answers they want to hear that accurately speaks of YOU. They've heard it all. Class dynamics is very important during the selection process.😉

Don't worry about it, you'll be fine.
