Hi, i'm new to this forum and i'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I reckoned it was.

Basically, I'm a 3rd year bio sci major who recently decided that I actually had a passion for dentistry. However, since this decision happened very late into my college years, I decided that I'm going to take a gap year in order to get some experience/volunteering in the dentistry field. I did some general research on what I have do in order to get into dental school, but I kinda started feeling hopeless after. My GPA is not that competitive (3.1), and I don't have any experience/volunteering in dentistry. The low GPA was due to me not really knowing what I wanted to do with my career and therefore didn't really have a goal. But since this year, I have been getting straight A's, I'm hoping to continue this trend because I really want to pursue dentistry (it has really motivated me to study hard). I want to get admitted into either UCLA or USC dentistry schools as I really want to stay in southern CA, but I need advice on how to recover from my GPA. I plan to study DAT all of summer, but I need general guidance on the type volunteering/shadowing I need to do or anything else that could benefit me.

Thank you in advance.
