So I am currently in TCOM first year. Our firstclass on cell science, biochem, etc. I found easy (not for everyone though as it was curved by 2 percent) and managed to pull off a solid A in.No problem.

Now comes Musculo-Skeletal and now I am getting my butt whipped. I am studying even more than for the first unit yet unlike before i am well below the average in exams quizzes etc. What am i doing wrong?

I am passing no problem, but getting a 77-76 bottom of the class grade is not a good thing... especially if I have interests in Radiology which i need good scores in.

Has anybody been in a similar situation and if so, what did you do about it?
I am going to getting tutoring offered via my school and talk with my accademic support office but does any one know how to avert my one way trip into disaster?

I know that if this continues I will only do worse. Really embarassing since I haven't had a B since freshman of undergrad and my MCAT and GPA are well above the average of my class yet my current performance is of significant concern.

A lot of people get into med school and freak out when they don't get the A's they were used to getting in undergrad. Don't let this get to you. Med school is hard. Do whatever you can to make your grades better, but if you are getting a 77, you are still accomplishing a lot. Don't get me wrong, I'm not promoting mediocrity, but just passing med school classes is pretty awesome, so take it for what it is. Beating yourself up over a grade isn't going to help a whole lot.

Med school is not undergrad. It's a whole new ballgame. You go from being tops in your undergrad classes to be average among very smart people. You have to learn to get over grades! Seriously, there is nothing wrong with a C in med school. It is important that you learn the material for boards and for being a doctor! Try to relax and not obssess about grades and you may see them start to pop up.

You just started- relax and take some slow deep breaths!!

meh...figured out that I just need to work even harder. I could do well in cell bio since i already had a strong background in it. In my future units I just need to study harder.

Btw, i think it is rational to try to hold your self to maintaining an 85% average. Expecially in a school that designs its exams to have an 83% average.
