Ok so I have been on here reading countless forums trying to find something to help me out but I have a dilemma I'd like someone to take their time reading and maybe see if they were in my shoes at once or have advice for me
SO here goes

I just turned 19 couple months back and I have been homeschooled majority of my life (after middle school)..I graduated high school at 15 and had an assoictaes by the time I was 16 by taking 5 classes a semester half online and campus...I know I have a unique situation and to add to the matter I have a family...I have been out of school for about 3 and some years now and I am really trying to back into the game and fufill my pharmacy dream..Going out of state for college is not an option for me, therefore I am left with no other option then to apply to an already competitve school Wayne state..I understand my chances of getting accepted are slim, but I wanted to know how slim they actually are.

Will they be better if I take my pre reqs at a university as opposed to a cc( even if the university has transfer plans with those community colleges)

Do I have to be a math whiz( I've taken math at least 5 years ago and I really remember nothing..didn't take higher than college algebra which is like chinese to me now:scared:)

IS pharmacy something that can not be done with a family..in other words will I be pulling my hair out by the end of every day or by the end of each semester?
Also I feel as if I will be too old graduating at 25 or 26..(am I overreacting are is that a little over the average graduation age)

So sorry for the bad and quick typing but I am doing this in quite a rush and I just need help and support because honestly I am losing hope on this pharmacy dream?

Have you worked in pharmacy? I'd suggest that first, but I am in my late 20s with 2 kids under the age of 10 and married. Knowing that it is competitive entry, it's not going to be easy, and you will have to sacrifice a lot with tour family in order to keep your grades up. You do need to be fairly strong at math, as most schools require you to go through calculus. Also, chemistry has math as well. It's never too late to go back to school, just make sure you really want to be in the field.

Hey, I have worked in pharmacy and I do see myself being in the career field...Ive talked to sooo many pharmacists and it seems like each one tells me something else...fr example someone told me math wasn't a huge priority as long as you know basic algebra and that some COP were even dropping calculus as a requirement..that gave me some relief..ad then someone else made it seem like I had to be a whiz..Im just so scared of wasting time and money on something I am destined to fail at..just thinking of the pcat makes me wanna crap my pants really...But the math isn't the only turn off...I was wondering if my chances become much slimmer going to a community college?

The PCAT math section is calculus, I hate math, but got an A in calculus so don't let that freak you out. No, going to a community college vs university doesn't lower your chances. Even if they asked why, it's pretty easy to explain why.

Thanks I'm going to try and get started on my classes...I see that you are pre pharm. How is it going for you?

So far so good. I just applied and just waiting now. I still have classes to finish up though, so if I don't get in this time around I will be ok with it. Ill admit tho, having young kids, I feel bad being so busy and stressed around them 🙁 hopefully it all pays off and this will set a good example for them

Thats totally on my consciousness as well..I have a one year old and if I see him losing weight or sick I dont know how I will be able to focus on school

My daughter was one when I started, she's 3 now and I tried to get my schedule so I could at least tuck her in bed and read her bedtime stories at night. There was one semester I couldn't and my husband would tell me she would just cry and try to stay up 🙁 I never took a night class since and do morning classes so I can pick her up and do the bedtime routine🙂

What are your stats? Gpa? Extracurricular activities? Pharmacy experience? Volunteering? Given ur unique situation u demonstrate that ur capable of handling overwhelming workload which is one thing pharm schools look for. Honestly even if ur gpa is on the low end, all u need to do is load up ur resume and have a good reason why u wanna do pharmacy. Good luck to u man. U n ur fam, im sure u will get in
