Hey Everyone!
So I was wondering if some of you could help me out. I am trying to decide whether or not I should retake the DAT before I apply in May. A few of the schools that I am looking at are Michigan, UD Mercy, Case, and U Penn.
Here are some of my stats:
GPA: 3.844 Science:3.887
DAT: PAT(19) Reading(19) Gen chem(20) Orgo(20) bio(21) QR(15) AA(19)
Pre-dental club president
I also have a good amount of volunteer experience, shadowing hours, and other leadership experience.

The main thing I am worried about is that 15 on the QR section. Most of the people I have talked to said not to retake the DAT because the rest of my application is good. So do you guys think I should retake the DAT?
Thanks! 🙂

Apply to Temple and NYU as a last measure, maybe Indiana. Otherwise I do not think you should re-take. A 19 on the DAT and being pre-dent club prez is... awesome! I know many people with a 15 on QR who got 2 or more interviews.

i would try and retake. depends how bad you want to go to a school w high standards or out of state.m i think you'll get in somewhere though. good app all around.

You should not have a problem getting into dental school with those stats. The question is which dental school you want to get into. The list of schools you mentioned have some high averages so maybe apply to some other schools as a back up but if you are firm about going to one of those schools, you can always apply and if you don't get any interviews, retake the DAT. The QR is the least looked at part of the DAT and some schools really don't care if you have a 15. Your other scores are above the national average and that is what matters. Don't delay applying (unless it is a money issue) because too many people think you need a 25 to get in and that is just not the case. Look at each individual school and their average scores for attending students. That will give you an idea if you are in the range. Good luck!

this is very bad advice. the OPs stats are more than enough to get
into many schools. you shouldn't risk your other solid scores to bring
up your score in the least important section. sit on those numbers and
the interviews /acceptances should roll in.

I know people that got into dental schools w/ a 13 on the QR. Your other scores are great! I wouldn't worry too much, esp if you have good calc/math grades.

wow dude, nice GPA 😛
with those stats you should not worry at all man.
you will get a few interviews thats for sure, just work on your socials skills now hehe
