congrats! what r u looking into now tho? thinking outside of pharmacy or in pharmacy.I quit working at CVS! Now, I am unemployed. I'm going to find a way to be successful at work being my own boss.
Thanks all! CVS was getting out of control and I couldn't safely dispense a prescription there anymore. It was a toxic environment for me. My current plan is to take a week off and mentally relax, and then begin working. I will work for a few independents around the area, and I'll have to start using whatever resources available to me to find the next big thing. I am very happy I left, and just knowing I never have to set foot into a poorly managed store and constantly clean up its mess keeps me sane. I was going to lose it if I continued to work there. Thanks for all the support, and I will keep everyone updated!
I wish you nothing but happiness. You have to let go of that anger dude, it will kill you if you let it....
I have to say I'm still a little confused, you said you have full time employment at an independent making approx 70/hr but you are still looking for something else? Is this because the owner is not offering any benefits?
Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Where are you located again? If you do move on from there, let me know 😉No, it's because I'm not so sure about the future of independent pharmacy. I for one do not believe dispensing prescriptions will be enough to stay in business in the next 10 to 20 years. Dispensing is going out the window, and a lot of independents are built only on dispensing. I say I am looking for something better because I am at the point in my life where I am reevaluating, setting new goals, and actually caring about professional development. Independents are great places to work, reasons including the excellent staff, the work environment, being paid in cash, more autonomy, however, like I said, I want to look more towards the future. Security and quality of life is the name of the game for me.
By the way, the owner offers benefits, including 3 weeks vacation, 1 week sick time, profit sharing, and health insurance. It's insanely sweet, but it's also the kind of situation where he or she can sell the store the next day, and I don't like that kind of risk now.
Thanks for asking!
