I received an Emory secondary today via an email invitation!

The secondary itself is online.

The essays are a joke. How they can gain further insight into applicants by looking at their 100 word reasons for wanting to go is a mystery for me. Seems like they want to avoid the straight money grubbing approach employed by other schools by asking you for SHORT answers to a few questions. Easy though.

Yeah I wish they gave more than 50 or 100 word essays (I never thought I'd ever think that). Penn State was the same way, they gave 50 words to describe why you wanted to go there. I had to cut my response down so much that it was like "Me like PSU. It gud."

Yeah, just recieved mine today; how is emory on screening? anyone know if schools look at pers statements before screening or just numbers?

count me in for finally getting the emory 2ndary too. it's probably my first choice school so i was getting kinda nervous. now i can pay my fee, write my 25 character essay on what makes me want to be a doctor and go to emory, and prepare for the rejection with my < 3.75, 11 avg mcat

there's a reason the GPA and MCAT averages were pulled down to 3.75 and 11's. 😀

Anybody else get three secondaries? It's like Emory bombed my inbox. 🙂

I personally like the short essays. I find the "Tell us about your most positive experience" essays to be annoying. I'd rather write about those sorts of essays as a move to the abstract, and I don't believe that's what medical schools are after. I'm actually a big fan of "Write us a check, and we'll see you at the interview and get to know you there" type secondaries.

Short and sweet.
