Last semester I retook Orgo and received an A from a terrible C- i received from screwing around my sophomore year.
I was wondering, what happens to this grade?? How is it shown??

will it be averaged/replaced?

if it is averaged,
Will it affect the GPA as an 8 credit average? or as a 4 credit average??

averaged at MD schools, newest grade taken at DO schools

MD schools take it as an 8 credit average

DO schools will use the last grade you earned - the 4 credit A

Both grades will show up on your GPA calculation for MD schools, so you'd have twice the number of credits for this course on your application compared to someone who only took it once.

so pretty much,
the retaken class is factored in as a completely different class??

this is the same for the science GPA??

B at MD A at DO.

your AMCAS application will calculate it as if it were simply a different class. AMCAS will include it as a full credit course in your GPA calculation for both math/science GPA as well as overall GPA, so the C and the A will be factored into your final GPA on AMCAS, even if your university didn't do this. This is what all medical schools will see, since medical schools do not receive transcripts.
