here's the situation - I'm enrolled in chem14B (2nd g-chem class) but I still need to retake chem14A (1st g-chem class). I can't retake it if I finish 14B this quarter, and enrollment has closed so I can't drop 14B and repeat 14A.

So is my only option to retake this at a community college?

any insight or suggestions would be much appreciated...thanks

(stupid peer counseling replied to my question ~3 WEEKS after i asked it. had they replied sooner i would have had time to enroll_

C- 🙂rolleyes🙂, so it won't count towards pharmacy school

nothing wrng with retaking at CC

I absolutely agree, a few C's can't hurt with a few A's supporting it. However, showing the drive to do better and excel, regardless of the institution, can present you as a strong candidate. So, if that C really bugs you then go ahead and retake it.

I HAVE to retake it if I want credit for it (it's a C-, not a C - sadly). And its not the "taking at a CC" that bugs me, I'm planning on taking some GEs here over the summer, so it would be more convenient if I could retake it here as well (so I won't have to go to 2 places). Oh well, i still have time..thanks for the help

mandu - i made lots of changes in my study habits...i'd be darned if i get a c- again

you're headed on the right track; success is near ! :luck:

The main goal is to design your schedule such that your chemistry sequence and any course that requires any class in said sequence is completed prior to matriculation and/or the PCAT (if applicable)

So, you don't have to rush the retake if you have time to complete the sequence.

On a side note to everybody else, DON'T always trust the advisors or whatever is at your school. Some are good, others know less than many people on this board, and many treat you like a number.😉

Thanks for the response. I also emailed the main counselor of the chemistry department. I can retake the class, but it will count as an "unapproved retake." In other words, the unapproved retake won't count towards my GPA, but it will show up on my transcript. Do you guys know if this will still be good for pharmacy school?
