My gpa on my transcript is a 3.08, but that does not include my 3 classes I retook. Worried that when PTCAS calculates my cGPA it will be a 2.9 and I will be disqualified from a lot of the schools I want to apply to. I want to submit my application, then add the schools I would like to attend. Any reason why I shouldn't do this?
I want to see my PTCAS cGPA before I decide where I apply, advice?

If you think you'll get in anywhere with that GPA you wont. Get it up a 3.0 won't compete when several hundred applicants are applying with a growing applicant pool every year. There are also no more than 40 spots.

Also, in regards to the above posting, having a 3.0 does NOT mean you won't get in anywhere. My pre-req GPA was 3.03 and I have already been offered interviews at top schools. Stay positive, work hard, and make admissions staff know why you should be there! Good luck!

Ughh the response up there is so discouraging! Some people are just naturally debbie downers. I am a firm believer that anything is possible if one has the faith to believe they will succeed. Put in your apps because you never know what may happen. I know people from all over who've gotten accepted with a 2.8 pre-req GPA and a 3.17 gpa, so don't move on, apply and see! Good luck to you

I think what topshelf is rudely pointing out is to expect rejections from SOME schools. This my second application cycle and I was denied by all of the schools I applied to with a GPA similar to yours, this cycle I raised GPA and applied early and I now have interviews with a couple of my top choices. The take away should be EXPECT rejection but do not ever accept "no"as an answer if this is what you want to do in life. BTW topshelf is some idiot that trolls this forum promoting negativity of this field who knows if this guy is a student/applicant/weirdo anyway last person on this forum to listen to.

Turns out my GPA drops from a 3.07 to a 2.85 when I factor in my 3 retakes. Will schools still view me if their minimum cGPA is 3.00? I've been searching around the site and seen people with 2.9 and 2.8's get into schools with 3.00 minimums.
Not really sure what to do. my GRE is 159Q/156V/4.0 preGPA is 3.55 and I have strong LOR's

If you overall is 2.8, then be strategic and only apply to those schools that will accept a cGPA <3.0. Most schools do not, so be strategic.

Sounds like you have a shot. Like everyone else said, be strategic in your choices & don't let cynics bring you down. That person topshelf is a jerk. If you look at his posts they are always super negative.

lol I was about to say that you guys are jumping to conclusions here! I understand this stress though...What you guys need to do for this situation is to contact each school your applying to and ask how they calculate retakes. Some schools completely replace your low grades with your retakes drastically boosting your cGPA for them specifically. Some schools take the average between your original grade and retake, however, theoretically it should still raise your cGPA. Some schools put a limit on the amount of retakes you do by slightly putting a 'dent/ding' into your chances of getting accepted (however, if you 4.0 those retakes, your chances of getting accepted go up moreso than you would get 'dinged'....1 step back takes you 3 steps forward in that situation). Finally, there is the occasional 'jerk' school that doesnt allow retakes, period.
