Here are my stats, tell me what you guys think:

AADSAS application sent in July, and my DAT scores in Sept.

GPA: 3.55
Science: 3.42

DAT
AA: 20 (92.6 percentile)
PAT: 16 (57.6 percentile)
BIO: 19 (91.2 percentile)
GC: 21 (92.4 percentile)
OC: 21 (93.9 percentile)
TS: 20 (93.1 percentile)
RC: 21 (87.7 percentile)
QR: 20 (91.2 percentile)

Volunteering: about 150-200 hours of shadowing.

I know the PAT sticks out like a sore thumb, but I've had numerous interview invites and they haven't asked me about that score yet. I also had a problem at the test center with the computer acting up, so that contributed to the score. Luckily I was able to file a complaint so the schools know what happened.

Let me know what you guys think..I really don't want to re-take it.

Also, do they look at the score or the percentile? I know people that scored higher in some sections but had a lower percentile score. Does that just mean I got a hard test?

Schools do not receive percentiles. I don't think you had a harder test. It doesn't make sense for some people to have harder tests than others. If that was the case, then I'm sure the test makers would have changed the style of the test by now.

but I've had numerous interview invites and they haven't asked me about that score yet.

normally i say this about QR, RC, and Ochem. i guess in your case i will say the same thing again.

if you do well on all the other sections and you do just below avg in one section then you will be fine. the fact that you have gotten numerous interviews pretty much proves my point. if having one slight bad score was a huge problem then you would have been asked about it on your interviews.

i think your GPA is fine and you will be ok.

btw, if you don't mind where have you interviewed?

I think overall your DAT scores a SOLID! And your gpa is pretty good. You should def get interviews from most if not all the schools you applied to and get accept at many of them no prob. Don't sweat it.

I have gotten interviews at :

University of Florida
Boston University
Nova Southeastern
University of Maryland
NYU

wow,

those are very good schools. i really think you will be ok. don't sweat your PAT score. trust me you'll be fine. just make sure you do well on the interview.

BTW, i am shocked that you got one from MD as they have been going after some really good #s i think.

good luck to you!

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it.

It was kind of unfortunate though...has anyone else had their computer act up during the DAT? Mine was freezing during certain sections (PAT one of them). I faxed my complaint letter to all the schools also so they could document what happened. It's just weird because I have never heard that happening to anyone before. Then again...the computer I was on was very old...

My computer froze while it was calculating my scores. I had to reschedule and retake the DAT. 🙁 Fortunately I ended up with a 22.

Did you have to notify the schools of it?

I feel like they might think I'm lying or something. There's no way to prove it....

Oh, that must have been awful for you! They couldnt save the test? That would be anyone's worse nightmares. The DAT is a grueling experience.

oh man, i had a similar experience. for me, though, the computer froze a right after the computer calculated the scores. i couldn't even get a print-out of my scores and so i thought that the scores hadn't been sent to ADA and that i would have to take the test over. but it's good to hear you ended up with a 22 on ur second try! great job!

Wow!... What if you scored really bad?

Prometric must have been so nice to you after their computer messed up... Maybe thats why you scored 22.

I am just kidding dude.... WELL DONE!

My friend's computer froze during Reading Comprehension and she got a 19 but they are letting her re-take just that section. I didn't even know that was possible.

My computer was HORRIBLE for the DAT. It kept freezing, the mouse was acting up.....The guy next to me was typing so loud and it was very distracting. But nonetheless, I guess I still can't complain........

a few of my scores are the same as yours, however my precentiles are not even close. They are a lot lower. Anyway those are very good scores

See, that's what I mean....some of my friends scored even higher than me and got lower percentiles. I just don't understand it? Schools don't receive percentiles? I thought schools receive a copy of your scores that look exactly like yours...... Just doesn't make sense to me...the whole percentile thing.

Thanks...I hope the scores are good enough to get in :/

My computer froze, too. During the orgo section on question 91 my computer screen randomly jumped to the review-your-marked-answers screen. Luckily I had 13 minutes left, but it could have been devastating. The prometric staff took 2+ mins to help me, so I got up and knocked on the glass---then they snapped at me for making noise--haha! It seems as though some PC updates are necessary.

The cost of the DAT and the problems from computers freezing... We should go on STRIKE!

Right!😀

Are you guys sure that schools don't get percentiles?

How come we get them? Seems weird....

The actual DAT is broken down to different versions. Depending on the version you take, you are given a percentile on how you scored against the students who took the same version.

Now, schools don't care about percentiles, and will not be useful to determine how you did on the DAT. All they need is the 0-30 score.

That just doesn't seem right .... if there are different tests of varying difficulty then percentiles mean everything. There must be some standardization between the tests otherwise the DAT scores (0-30) would be inconsistant between exams giving some applicants advantage and putting others at a disadvantage. Something is amiss. I would be surprised, even if schools dont' look at percentage, if the various exams are really much different in dfficulty. Maybe that's what you are saying....?

Well, some schools want to look good when their numbers come out at the end of the year. So I guess in that case percentiles would do them no good and your raw score would matter the most.
