You can spin the travel gap as a recharge before med school. And no, the job doesn't have to be clinical - just show how your hobby job helps you develop relevant skills! So I'm currently only volunteering because I plan to travel for ~6 weeks, starting in a few weeks. I was on Workers Comp. til recently and didn't want to start a job because I felt it would be unethical b/c I wouldn't be able to commit. I also wasn't strapped for money cause I worked through all of undergrad. All this to say, I'm wondering if mentioning that I don't have a job, but plan to travel, then will work when I come back to the U.S. would be perceived badly.
Also, does the job have to be clinical? I'd prefer to get clinical experience through volunteering and work a job completely unrelated to healthcare b/c it fits my hobby and more $$$.
