I don’t think the SF match releases data with that level of granularity. But if you’re talking about USMD who completed an ACGME accredited US Gen Surg residency vs IMG/FMG MD who completed an ACGME accredited US Gen Surg residency, I don’t think there would be much of a difference. Once you have the residency under your belt, I would imagine both are judged equally, as long as institution can provide a visa.

I am not sure if @droliver has insight into current PRS fellowship trends, but will see what his thoughts are.

Yeah you would think that would be the case, but I was reading a report that said outcomes in the independent match were better for residents who graduated from a US MD school. Not quite sure why though. I was just curious if anyone knew how much better it was for them/knew where we could find more stats on that, how much research would be needed to match, etc

The article states: “A successful match was associated with US medical school graduates, prerequisite training at a university-affiliated general surgery program…”
This link was only the abstract. The full article (available free on PubMed) answers this for you in Table 1.
