Hi guys!

A school I am applying to has a question about institutional actions (I had a alcohol policy violation) that I answered but a separate question: Discuss any elements of your application that you feel might be concerning to the Admissions Committee. (This could include explanation of metric trends, institutional actions, legal violations, etc.). You may answer N/A if there are no concerns you would like to discuss." in their secondary. Should I answer both copy and paste or talk about it once in the IA section and not answer the second one to not call attention to it?

Hi, I don't quite follow what your choices are. You are implying that the program asked about IA's but you wrote about... something else??? gave no answer???

I would think that you should talk about your IA where the prompt is appropriate. Leave the open-ended "what else" question to a different answer. Unless you have a different IA to talk about.

So they have two questions, 1 where you click yes if you had an institutional action and describe it and the outcome and then a separate question in the essays that says “Discuss any elements of your application that you feel might be concerning to the Admissions Committee. (This could include explanation of metric trends, institutional actions, legal violations, etc.).” should I answer both? it’s an alcohol policy violation while I was of legal age so my answer is appropriately contrite and concise for the IA one and am not sure if expanding on it is a good idea

Question 1: Have you ever been subject to any institutional action- such as discipline, probation, suspension, dismissal, or any other sanction- by any college, university or medical school for unacceptable academic performance or a conduct violation, even if the action may did not interrupt your enrollment or require withdrawal? If 'Yes' please explain fully in the space below. YesNo

Question 2: Discuss any elements of your application that you feel might be concerning to the Admissions Committee. (This could include explanation of metric trends, institutional actions, legal violations, etc.).”

Don’t waste their time with a copy/paste. If you’ve sufficiently described the IA, taken ownership and shown some sort of growth in the space provided, put NA in the second question and move on.
