Hey everyone!

I've already been accepted to Nova (yay!) but my first choice would be ICO, where I have an interview in February. I was wondering if anyone has interviewed at ICO recently and give me some idea as to what I should expect? I read some of the interview feedback from previous years and some people mentioned an essay you have to write on the spot. Can anyone tell me if that's still the case? Thanks!

Hey Optomgal, I had my interview on Jan 13 and just found out that I got accepted to ICO!!! 🙂. The way I prepared for the interview was making a list of questions I found on the interview feedback here on the website and questions I found online. I answered the questions with bullet points and practiced with my boss ( I work at an optometry office). I then practiced with some friends and by myself.
On the interview day you do have to write an essay, have the 1-1 interview, then take a tour. I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL, but honestly the interview went really smoothly. It didn't feel like an interview at all, but more of a conversation than anything.

I wish you luck, PM me if you have any questions

i interviewed in october and i will be attending ico in the fall. PM me if you have any questions that don't get answered!

try not to stress too much about it, just be honest and passionate about why ICO is your first choice.

Thanks guys! This definitely helps a lot. Trying not to be nervous is easier said than done haha but I'll do my best.

Just out of curiosity, sjpinoy87 did you get a letter or a phone call or e-mail telling you that you had been accepted.

I just had an interview at ICO on Friday (the 28th) and they did have a writing portion. I'm sure they change up the questions, but mine specifically was to name three reasons why I would be a successful student at ICO with supporting reasons. And they gave you ten minutes to complete it. Believe me, my hands were sweating all over my pen and the table...it was kinda gross lol. But ten minutes is plenty of time, well for me it was, to get your message across.

Good luck to you!!

Congrats on being accepted into Nova! ICO is also my first choice, although I have yet to take the OAT. Do you mind me asking what were your scores for the OAT? I don't know if you've posted them up before...
