Hey everyone, I have recently been accepted to ICO and should hear from NOVA anyday now. Can anyone give me any feedback on NOVA? I absolutely loved the school when I visited. I know that it is a fairly new program, but I just want to make sure that I would be prepared for Board III and not just the Florida Board. Any info on NOVA would be helpful.

Good luck to everyone as they apply to schools!!!

What do you like about ICO?

They have a pretty high passage rate for all of the boards, I just interviewed down there and they accepted me on Friday 😀 . For the first part of the boards they have a 90% passage rate and the others are just as good but I dont remember them. ICO was rude to me on the phone and I hear the area is dangerous around the school so when I heard I was accepted to NOVA I cancelled my interview at ICO. It was supposed to be Oct. 19th

I like how ICO has extracurricular activities geared toward the optometry students. For example, intramurals. I also like how they have a Residential Complex for first years. I think this would make it easier for them to get to know each other and hang out. I don't necessarily care for the area on the south side, but its definitely not as bad as some make it out to be. Being from the Chicago area, I have seen much worse areas. I also don't like that they have tests every 2 days.

NOVA's faculty and staff were the friendliest group of people whom I have dealt with from all the schools, esp. Fran. Like I said before, they made it feel warm and homey.

How did you hear from NOVA, e-mail, phone, letter? I interviewed 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. I know the committe was to meet Oct. 12th.

Are the board passing rates that high? I had previously heard from years past that they were in the 60s. I know that you make the best out of your education, and if you put your mind to it, you can pass the boards, no matter which school you go to.

The assistant dean said he just got them back and it was a 90% passage rate. I was worried too because I heard about the lower ones in previous years but they changed some things around recently and that was the result. Fran actually left me a meesage on my cell phone 😀 You should give them a call.
