dear SDNers,

my question pertains to how many dental offices (GP, specialties) that you guys shadowed before you applied to DS. currently i am shadowing a generalist and have nearly 40 hours worth of shadowing, with about 1-2 hours shadowing per week. however, i feel that it's also imperative to check out other dental office environments and see what they're all about. i'd appreciate any feedback and thank you 🙂

just rack up to 200 hours... that full fill the requirements of all the d-schools, they like to see specialists too..

in one interview they asked how many hours:

in another interview they asked how many hours and who not the name but the specialty...

1gp and 2 specialists should do...

I agree with this, I shadowed multiple GPs and each one had something interesting that the others didn't have. For example, busy practices with multiple dentists and chairs vs. 1 dentist practices, different technologies, in-house specialists, different ways of talking to patients, etc. I'd recommend shadowing multiple GPs for this experience and to see what kind of environment you might prefer to practice in someday.
