Hey everyone!
I was just wondering if we all could come up with a list of ideas to ask in an interview at med schools.

I'll start:

What percentage of students pass the boards?
Is research available as an elective? When?
Is there a committee who oversees bioethical issues at the college?
Grading system?

Please continue!

Well the questions I'm thinking of asking are the "What do us novices not get?" sort of question. I mean things like "What's the number one misconception us med hopefuls have?" or "If you could give me one piece of advice to do well in med school and be a good doctor that isn't the most obvious of things what would you tell me?" That's the stuff I'm interested in, things were it's so subtle I wouldn't think to ask.(Since alot of time that stuff bites me, like my first physics course. How I wish I knew that being good at calc was more important than that stupid placement test.)

Ask that and immediately follow up with "So....where do you keep the narcotics?" :meanie:

"So... uh.... " (plays with foot shyly) "... did I get in?"

some of mine so far:

so why <blank> school?
any advice for me?
what are your school's greatest strengths/weaknesses?
what's the worst part about living here? (basically, is the cold unbearable? and the answer was no, but sometimes the grey skies are)

(takes out a folded piece of paper from shirt pocket. puts on glasses. clears throat loudly.) 'Two trains are leaving simultaneously from two different locations ninety miles apart.." (pauses.) "I think you're going to want scrap paper for this."

Is it okay to ask, Will I get in? I mean, honestly, that would be the first thing and possibly only thing I'd want to know.

thanks! I haven't seen that list before! 😀

I'd wanna know too!!!!!

I posed a question like this:

i know that medical school will be very intense and time consuming, but volunteering brings a lot of balance to my life. Does [school] offer opportunities for volunteering either in the hospitals or in the community? Or is there a community outreach office that can put me in contact with opportunities?
