I am attempting to wait patiently (it's not working too well) to hear back from the four clinical Psy.D. programs to which I applied recently. Naturally, I have a favorite out of these schools. As it turns out, this should be the first school to accept/decline my application. If I am accepted to this school first, should I notify the other schools that I am no longer interested? Wouldn't it save them their time and me my money (traveling to interviews)? For you who have been here before, what did you do? Thanks!

We should all be so lucky to have this problem, hahaha. Good luck everyone!

If you have no other reasons to wait (funding packages, etc.) than yes, definitely notify the other schools. It may open up a spot for other applicants.

However, keep in mind that some opinions change during interviews. You might go to an interview at a school you weren't seriously considering and find out it's one of your favorites!

Don't do anything until the offer is in your hands, in writing, signed.

After that, and everything is 100% set, then yeah if you know you aren't going to accept another offer withdraw from the other programs so they can focus on applicants who would go.

I completely agree with this; I think interviews can change everything. Atmosphere and personality fit is extremely important, especially with the people you might spend 4-7 years with! But if you're 100% sure that this is the program for you, you have been there and met faculty in person, then accept the (written!) offer and notify other schools asap. Good luck!

Yes. Not only does it save them time and hassle, but it allows other applicants who are waitlisted to be accepted.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Very helpful. I'm flying out Thursday for my first interview. My second one is next week. We'll see how it goes...
