if acgme closes your program

rumor is they have to place you in another training program within that specialty. is there any documentation to this effect? i searched the acgme website with no luck. i.e. program is on probation, they revisit and close the program - are you left out in the cold or is it on them to help place you somewhere?

i don't believe they HAVE to place you somewhere but they are very sympathetic to you and will try in every way to place you. This is just a good guess based on people that I know who have looked in to it.

There is no obligation for them to find you a spot, but they will allow any program in good standing that takes you in to temporarily increase their resident complement beyond what they are approved for, so in that way they remove one roadblock to you finding another spot.
