If I take a W in physics 2, can I still apply this cycle.

So the general opinion seems to be W > C. I am pretty confident I can pull a C but the B will take a huge effort. Don't think I'm really at risk for a D or F.

That being said...if I take the "W", could I still apply this cycle on June 1? Physics 2 is required so if I had a W would they even look at my application?

Damn shame if this 1 class keeps me out of med school for a year..just making sure that's the case.

woops.. i got all my cycles mixed up.

If you apply 2010, you could possibly take the W now and retake the course next semester and get an A.

You can apply without all your prerequisites complete. In fact, they only need to be completed upon matriculation (i.e. when you officially enter the medical school of your choice). So...if you want, go ahead and take the dub-ya.

Yeah...my game plan is study my ass off for the 2nd test (before the W deadline) and if I can't get at least close to a B I will take the W then.

Nice to know I can still apply...won't look good at all but I could explain it if asked about...so as long as I could make get an interview I'd be ok

I don't get it. How many tests have you had? Why would one bad test automatically mean you're going to get a C in the class. I would assume you have at least another test and a final, which would mean that you could easily still get a B or even an A if you improve enough, particularly if the class is curved. I think too many pre-med students freak out about physics. Yes, it's difficult but it's manageable if you learn to study the right way. It's not memorization and you can't get by regurgitating what you read (unlike most other classes...)

In response to your question, I don't believe you *should* (you could though, obviously) apply this cycle without a grade in physics 2. Most ADCOMs would not be impressed by a W in a core pre-med course right before you apply.

I got a low C on my first exam. If I got all Low C's my grade would still end up being a 88% with all of the padding that is homework/etc.

Obviously it depends upon GPA. 1 C will not kill you. 2 C's wont kill you. 3 C's wouldn't if you still had a high GPA.

the thing is course material generally gets harder and concepts build upon each other as the term progresses.. unless you can identify the problems and make a 180, which isnt always feasible, you're likely to score even lower on the next exam.
ex.. we just got our 2nd ochemII test back (less than 12hr turnaround for a non- mc exam.. scary) and people in the low C range are cautioned that they are in danger of failing the course because the material only gets tougher.
now i realize my example is slightly different, as my class has had two exams which account for about 1/2 the final grade, but you get my point. righting the ship after a bad test [due to not understanding the material well or just being a poor test-taker or something] isnt always possible, depending on many things including how much the test was worth and how difficult it will be to kick but on the rest of the course.

Just apply this cycle. Best of luck Mr. body builder.
