i'm trying to do the secondary for tulane right now and the space that they give you for each short answer question is tiny. was wondering if you guys just typed onto the pdf and dealt w/ this amount of space or if there is another way of doing it?

any advice appreciated!

I just dealt with the space they gave me. And they also said to make it stay above 10 point font somewhere. However, I couldn't do that, but I think they could still read it without the aid of a magnifiying glass.

how do i make the font smaller since it's a pdf document??

I just kept typing and it kept shrinking. Eventually, it stops shrinking and you have to stop typing. I think I was using the most recent version of Adobe, if that helps any.

even if it shrinks, it's only letting me type about 4 lines per question....is that what yours was like too? this sucks.

Do the best you can to be as concise as possible. It is annoying to squeeze it into the space, but I don't think the three sentences you write there have a strong impact on your application. If anything, I would say they are likely used for conversational purposes in the interview. I didn't really feel like what I wrote properly represented nearly everything I could say due to the space constraint, but everyone has to deal with the same issue.

The 10+ page instructions say that you are suppose to limit your answer to the space provided. I was going to manipulate the space using Adobe however, I was afraid it was a test in following directions.

We are stuck with four lines for the answers.

I typed my responses in Microsoft Word with a 10 point font, printed them out, physically cut and pasted them onto the printed application itself, and xeroxed the application to submit. This way, I certainly took advantage of the "space provided" and was able to go beyond the PDF limitations.

I wouldn't worry too much about those short essay responses. I half-assed every answer in 2 or 3 lines and still got an interview invite within a few days of my file being complete there.
