If you could do anything else, besides doctoring, what would that be?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Create a phone game like flappy bird, or some other famous popular phone app, or a really sucessful website like facebook, and watch the $$ roll in. I don't have programming skillz though 🙁. Picked up a java book once, read the first sentence, and was like "whuuut".
Or start a really sucessful business.

Heard this morning on the radio Adele made like 59 million this past year being a stay at home mom: made no new songs, did not tour or play shows.

Looks like my dream is to become Adele

wish me luck mom and dad

Sounds like a great career 😀
I wonder what I should major in to become Adelle... XP

pilot in the military

in fact, my backup to medical school was warrant officer flight training program of the army (basically straight pathway to rotary wing pilot if you make it through - get to fly either apache, blackhawk, kiowa, or chinook)

In all seriousness, probably law school. I wanted to get my law degree before my medical, but the LSAT was keeping me. I just can't do well on verbal/logic games.

3 options : 1) Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner 2) Wilderness Paramedic 3) Physics Professor.

Chef at a swanky restaurant. I decided the hours in medicine were better. 😉

Do you mean teaching about the importance of safe sex? Or just how to have sex? Because if it's the latter, I think people can figure that one out on their own. 🙂
No, like Dan Savage or Tristan Tauromino. Giving advice about sex. Honestly I'm still hoping to be able to do this eventually

I seriously considered nursing and clinical psych (PhD/PsyD). If not that, then perhaps an interpreter... on the international arena 🙂 Foreign languages were my best subjects in high school (I took 2!)

If you couldn't be a physician, what would be your other dream job?

Mine's a toss-up between gaming design and working for an anti-human trafficking charity.

This is actually a common interview question, and it is not advisable to say you want to be anything other than a doctor. Something like "This is it, I don't see myself doing anything else. I will do everything I can to keep improving my resume and qualifications until I am a physician." It is fun to dream about something else but the interviewers want to see that a you're persistent and serious about the medical school commitment.

I think that question would be more likely phrased as "What would you do if you weren't accepted this cycle?" Then they might be able to glean whether or not you're dedicated to your chosen path.

I would just rephrase the question and say if there was no way I'd be a doctor and had to pick something else to do it would be... etc.

I think the original question is interesting as it'd show a little more of your personality/interests. No one wants a boring 4.0/40 automatron.

I would be a voice actor for cartoons.

Someone woke this thread up, they must be a necromancer!
Another exists too, and I still stand by stripper.

1.) Singer/Songwriter/Acoustic Guitarist
2.) Actor
3.) Fortune Cookie maker. Then I would make myself a fortune saying "You will quit this job and become a singer AND actor." sweeeet.

a writer

but I can still do that 😛

If money wasn't a problem, I'd be a race car driver.

Factoring in money, I'd probably do something more boring that utilized my undergrad degree e.g. research.

I don't know how you get hired as a camera man for Vice documentaries, but that seems like an awesome job.

Something like this, but I'd rather be the journalist than the camera person. It would allow to me to see the world, maybe get the adrenaline pumping occasionally, have good stories, and help me grow as a person. I imagine these types of things are ridiculously hard to get to do (at least for well known places like VICE) as they really only require you're willing to do the work and can speak about what's happening around you.

1) Host of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives
2) ESPN analyst
3) zookeeper

Probably open a classic car restoration/collecting company with my dad

Either a physical therapist or High school Biology teacher/baseball coach

After watching The Office for the 501st time, sports marketing like Jim Halpert did in Season 9.

Starcraft/League of Legends Pro gamer cuz I am Korean... yeah right.
I would've gone for programming and make 35+ dollars per hr right after graduation like most of my friends did..

Teach high school chemistry... or, if we don't care about money or actual probability of getting a job in the field, cinematography 🙂

I would be a travel expert, travel the world reviewing restaurants, hotels, etc...
