If you get a D in a non-prereq course (calc 2 for example) and your school considers D passing so you still get the credit, do you have to retake it? All I need the course for is my degree, not med school, so will it matter if I get a D as long as I get credit?

Yes. The majority of the medical school sites that I've gone to say that anything less than a C- is not accepted.

Isn't that for the med school pre-reqs? I think you can technically earn "F" in non-pre-req classes (obviously not recommended).

OP: that D in a math class will wreak havoc on your BCPM...

...lol you're right flip. I was just skimming over and missed the non-prereq and just read "prereq". Yea OP you're fine. If it's just one class then you're good.

you're fine, just don't get any more Ds b/c they will wreck your GPA. Not sure how your college does it, but as long as its not a part of your core curriculum, I think they will count that D as credit towards your degree.

If you get a D in a major course at my school, you have to retake. I would retake anyway.

I would retake were it not for the fact that I am already retaking it. I had to audit last semester because I was spending so much time on the class and still failing that all of my other grades started to drop as well. 🙁

Break it down...

"I would retake"- implying they are not.
"were it not for the fact that I am already retaking it"- implying they already are.

So I'd repeat it if I weren't already repeating it? I'd run a mile were it not for the fact that I'm already running a mile? Illogic.

Haha ok, thanks

I think the OP is saying (unclearly) that they were taking the class last semester but their other grades began to suffer so they dropped the class and audited it instead of taking it for a grade. They are now retaking it for a grade, and doing poorly in it again.

Yes, Thank you. I would consider retaking the class a Third time, but I am already repeating it for the second time. 😛 I had to audit (which is essentially a nicer way of saying withdrawal) last semester. However, I am still having difficulties, and while I feel I can pull a C, or hopefully even a B, I am terrified of what will happen if I get a D and have to take it a Third time...that will be hard to explain in interviews...

Really? I thought the "rule" is to retake if you got lower than a C. So, if one gets a C- , it is okay to move on and take upper level classes?
