hey guys

if say you barely passed your usmle step 1, are you allowed to rewrite your step 1 again?

if so, will both marks show up?

and lastly, as an aside, do residents in a training program have a good chance at re-entering the match? ie. is the match mainly geared for the advantage of graduating US med students or can US residents apply with equal footing too?

The only way you can retake is to fulfill licensure requirements. Most states require you to take all 3 steps within 7 years (some say 5 years, some have no time limit). So if your Step "expired", you can retake. This happens to FMGs mostly. Otherwise, no.

You can RE-TAKE one, just not the step 1.

i believe in british english to "write an exam" means to sit down and take it. so to rewrite it would be to retake it. 🙂
