I know that Revelle Humanities and Muir Writing have passed AMCAS inspection as English. I don't know specifically for MMW or DOC, but I would think it is either English or BESS (ie social science). Although all of the classes have cultural components (albeits Muir Writing is shady on the cultural part), a main component of each is writing. So, English might be your best bet. If you're wrong, AMCAS will correct you ;-).
