If you're a reapplicant, do schools contact the ones you applied to previously?

I previously applied to, and was rejected from, a special linkage program. I'm not sure why I was rejected, because the school refused to give me any feedback when I contacted them to ask. For secondaries this cycle that asked me if I was reapplying I just wrote a plausible-sounding explanation that focused on my improvements as an applicant since the rejection. I had put this completely out of my mind, but recently another school's interviewer asked me about it, so now I'm wondering if the admissions committee might communicate with the one that rejected me. I'm probably being paranoid, but until you get your white coat, I think a bit of paranoia is smart.

Oh geez

1) you are only a reapplicant to a school that has rejected you before
2) no school will know about any other school that you have previously applied or are currently applying to

Well, this school's secondary specifically asked if I'd ever applied anywhere before and if so why it hadn't worked out, and I answered truthfully. So they at least know.

They wont contact that school. It was good of you to just be honest.

You can arrive at these answers yourself by seeing things from their point of view (POV). Each year, they get thousands of applicants. Would you want to check to see if each one is a reapplicant from other schools? Also, I'm fairly certain it's against the law for them to probe that information because your applications to other schools have nothing to do with them.

Not against the law, and probably does not violate formal AMCAS agreements. AMCAS cant release the info but the agreements may not put any limits on schools to ask. it would go against recommended policy of AAMC, but not a rule violation
I see. Must be the HIPAA in me. 😉

That's a stupid question.

They want to see if you take responsibility or if you're petty and blame others.

My natural response: Well, they thought I'd be better off continuing my research to cure cancer. Also, My MCAT wasn't up to snuff.

But, they just want some PC answer.
