ignore

Agree with above. Get a paid clinical position so that you can get in the hospitals. You should have non-clinical volunteering as well. Ideally with underserved groups.

Hi! I think I know exactly what is making my app weaker, but I want to hear the opinions from on here early so that I have time to fix it before I apply:

- GPA: 3.9
- MCAT: Haven't taken so ignore (ik it's a huge factor im starting to study now for may date)
- Shadowing: tons of virtual due to covid (hoping to get in person in spring but texas hospitals are still closed)
- Clinical volunteering: same issue as above but now Im wondering if I should just scribe instead or something....
- Research: summer research program that resulted in a manuscript (im co author) and then research at my undergrad
- leadership positions on campus

Lmk!
I agree with the above. You need:

1. A competitive MCAT.
2. clinical exposure. Either get a scribe or EMT position or something that's going to give you patient contact.
3. Community service. You lack it. Do it.

You're smart to ask this question now as opposed to when you are actually applying or after you're rejected.
