Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the University of Illinos waitlist. I know that in the letters they sent out they rank you in the generic categories of likely to highly unlikely. Does anyone know numerically where these rankings put you? I'm ranked unlikely but have been accepted to Ohio. I went to U of I as an undergrad and was just hoping to return there. Thanks!

Hi Trina,

I'm on the IL waiting list too.......

I actually talked to Mary Kelm from student affairs on Friday. She is the nicest person and the one who can help answer all your questions. She told me that so far the wait list is moving slowly in IL because they are busy planning the graduation for the seniors. I'm an in-state student, which means my wait list moves much slower then the out of state list 🙁 . I do know that IL has offer two alternates from the instate list so far, but the rest of us is still waiting...huhhhhhh

She did say that after graduation in May, they do general see some movement on the wait list.

I was ranked to have "a Likely possibility to be accepted" and from what Mary told me was the if your ranked

"highly likely" then you're on the top of the list
"likely" means that you're in the middle
"unlikely" means you're on the bottom

I hope this helps...

Hi, I am on the IL in-state waiting list 🙁 ! I was offered admission to Purdue, so I am definitely going to Purdue if IL doesn't take me. But my first choice is still IL because of in-state tuition. I hope we all hear from IL soon!!! Good luck 👍 !

Hey TigeRee,
I was wondering if you got your waitlist rank correct. I found the folowing regarding Illinois...

What if I am put on the alternate list?
U of I is implementing a system of rank on the alternate list that was not used in the past. If you are put on the alternate list, you will be classified on a scale of “likely to be accepted” to “highly unlikely to be accepted”. They will not tell you your exact rank on the list, but the scale will not leave you in limbo as in the past.

This would bump us both up a notch if true!

Hmmmmm, I dunno then 😕

I advisor that I spoke to, reread the letter that I got and told me that I am in the middle of the list because my letter read "likely to be accepted" and that if I was higher on the list it would have stated "highly likely to be accepted" so I just assumed the if your letter stated "unlikely to be accepted" it mean that your on the bottom of the list.

Hopefully "likely to be accepted" will actually mean that we will MOST likely be accepted. 😀

Fingers cross...and wishing the best for all us waitlister... 😳

PS...I am meeting the advisor again next tuesday,(she's coming to my former University to talk about getting into vet school for the undergrads), so I'll ask her again and try to get more info. (maybe, If i bug her enough,I can get my exact position on the waiting list as well...lol

Mary said that they rated from highly likely to highly unlikely. If you're going to talk to the recruiter I would probably how far down the list people usually get invitations (ie. do likely's usually get an offer?)
Good luck to you,
Trina
