I apply May 2010. Interviews are usually handed out in September, October, ...but the Academic update period isn't open until mid November...doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of the update period if your selection for interview is based on your performance BEFORE the update period begins?

(this is all assuming Dec 01 is the DAY we're waiting for)

Some schools are slower in the interview process than others...it might be a way for dschool to make a decision about interviewing you if for example, you have a lower GPA, then they would want to see your most recent semester grades to see if you've shown an upward trend. Or if you've already interviewed somewhere, they want to be sure you are keeping your GPA up before offering an acceptance come Dec. 1st!

I would think that the academic update won't make that big of difference right? So, the schools might look at the border line students after the update. The higher GPA students would have been chosen by that point probably..who knows though.
