the answer choices for an orgo question did not load!! i was like wtf and showed the proctor. that was the last thing i was expecting. i just guessed b

PAT - 22 (97.2)
QR - 23 (96)
RC - 20 (66.2)
Bio - 20 (85.5)
GC - 27 (99)
Orgo - 20 (79.2)
TS - 22 (95.3)
AA - 22 (95.4)

i was really worried about bio and was considering postponing, but it came out higher than all my TS and achiever tests. there were only 2-3 taxonomy questions. most of the questions were obscure and physiology based. the highest score i got on practice tests was an 18.

orgo - dang, i caught a glitch and the answers didnt load. if i'm lucky they will throw out the question and give me +1.

math - seemed harder than the practice. i really practiced probability but didnt get a chance to use my skillz

pat - seemed darn easy. i usually take too long on keyhole/tfe but somehow finished in 15 minutes. at the end i went back and reviewed cubes and paper folding and found 2 mistakes

rc - only about 3 inference questions. the last passage bored me to death, i still don't know what it was about. they were all about 14 paragraphs.

prep - i didnt use destroyer. i dont like the way people are so uppity about it, please dont use this thread as a launch pad to tell me how i'm wrong.. im just saying that i used the blue book, kap diags, topscore, acheiver, and lots of wikipedia and a few random websites.

overall - im glad i just bit the bullet and took the test. i was so nervous that i couldnt sleep last night and this morning i couldnt eat breakfast. i'm also ecstatic that my scores are pretty consistent and i didn't get a 16 in bio. I hope the score can offset my 3.15 gpa and get me in uic.

questions? advice?

i think those scores are amazing!! however, you did not comment on gen chem! you totally raped it! how was it and how did you get a 27!?thanks.

thanks. i honestly dont remember much of it, so it must have been pretty run of the mill. my TS and A scores varied between 17-21

WOW Congrats jeezy, amazing for 3.1 i think you're in...how long did you study for it????
thanks

excellent job!!!!! 👍 what random websites did you use?...i've been hearing about ppl using wikipedia a lot...for bio i presume?!
are you a science major? yea...your gpa is kinda low.. did you already apply?..how are you EC's?
good luck

WOW Congrats jeezy, amazing for 3.1 i think you're in...how long did you study for it????
thanks

it took me ~2 weeks to read the blue book cover to cover, stopped for finals, took 2 days off and then did tests for ~2 more weeks.
total studying was < 5 weeks

taking ecology and orgo 2 in the fall after studying for the mcat last year helped me prep for NS quickly, but i had to learn taxonomy and botany myself (i'm almost willing to say that its not worth going much deeper than kaplans material). knowing a little bit about everything actually made me change one of my answers from the right answer, but i'm sure it helped more than it hurt.

here is a comprehensive outline of a lot of bio stuff that someone on sdn made.. it took quite a few sittings to get through: http://blog.rodtv.com/misc-stuff/biology.mht

and another one that i found about 2 days before the test, i didnt get to use this one too much but it seemed good for the plant, animal stuff: http://www.biology4kids.com/files/invert_sponges.html

wikipedia is an online encyclopedia, between that and google you can learn about almost anything once you know that it exists. i would read wrong answer choices and try to understand why they were wrong or if they were describing something else.

i studied engineering and then worked for a little bit so i probably fall under non traditional. i didnt apply yet, i wanted to take the test before finishing my ps.. things work out better when i'm not multitasking. i will most likely submit this week, aadsas has my transcripts and 2 LOR though. i have decent ECs but no research or anything like that. thanks!

jeezy, first off, amazing scores! You described some of the biology questions as "obscure"? Could you elaborate?

Also, the numbers you posted beside your score, are those the percentile you were in or the percents you recieved?

:luck:

they are percentiles. i'm not sure if the official score report that gets mailed in 2 weeks will tell how many questions i missed.

maybe obscure wasnt the right word. the questions just arent as direct as the practice tests i took where they ask what does __ effect, or where in the cell does __ occur?

the questions are asked in a more practical way. kind of like math word problems, sometimes you have to follow a chain of details like if the hypothalamus isnt working right, then that would effect the pituitary where adh is made and the right answer would have to do with low blood pressure. thats just an example i made up, but its to show that most of the questions are based on what kaplan teaches, but you need to be able to relate it properly

jeezy,
you mentioned you had an orgo question that didn't load, so you called a proctor over. I'm actually taking the DAT this Thursday, and something like that happening is like my biggest nightmare. :scared:
Did you actually have time to call the proctor during the exam? Or were you able to go back to that question after the exam was over?

it was near the end, question 89 and i had a little over 15 minutes so i raised my hand and caught the proctors eye. when he came in i went to the previous/next question, trying to get the question to load properly but it didnt. i think it happens once in a while because he just typed up a bug report without making a huge scene.

once a section is over, its over. i'm sure some DAT people can access it, but you'll never see it again. if you dont have a minute to spare, just write down the question number on your scratch paper and tell someone during the 15 minute break

Sick scores... Def keep up the faith... I was in the same boat with the lowish GPA / high DAT score and a lot of schools definitely were interested... Plus you applied a ton earlier than I did. I think you'll def get some interviews and end off bein all good...
