Hi guys ok I am now officially freaking out😱. All you guys are getting interviews and I have not gotten any . I applied the first week of July but retook my DAT AUG 28. GPA 3.2 SCI, 3.38:total. DAT : 20/21/22 (AA/TS/PAT) and I have volunteer and shadowing experience and research but NO Interviews. And the spots are getting filled fast. What do you think ?

If you took the DAT on Aug 28, then your file at the schools was completed one to two weeks ago. You still have about 3-7 weeks to wait before the schools'll get back to you.

hey, ur stats..esp ur DAT look good... just wait.. I havent heard anything either..my app is complete at two of the eight schools i applied to. sending my DAT scores, I am canadian has been so difficult! SO hang in there man...you just took the DAT in AUG and ur scores will be sent this month... so couple of weeks,
I pray every single day that GOD, please grant me an interview and an dental school acceptance anywhere. so just pray and wait patiently. I know this whole app process is anxiety provoking. Just find some support in one good friend or so. Thats what I did becuz i was looooosing my mind!
hope this helps u a bit.

This is my sec time applying. last year I interviewed late and didn't get in that's why I feel if I interview after January I won't get in, what do you think?

This is my 4th year applying...you're not alone.

ye last year I had a 3.5 and 3.3 GPA and AA:20 TS: 20 pAT:20 and over 80 hours of volunteer at Dental clinic and didn't get in.

Goodness. Are you serious? When did you apply, where and when did you interview?

I applied to 20 schools, Temple, Howard, uop, Buffalo, Penn, Nova, all the California ones and so much more dude Howard rejected me 😱 I applied last week of June. Yes eveyone has this same reaction. I think I'm cursed or something.

Dude, I got rejected to all the schools last year too... and I didn't get a single interview and I applied on June 4th.

I'm glad that this year has turned out for the better. But yeah, I know how that goes.

you guys are making me nervous. i've had 2 interviews so far and haven't heard a peep from the other 13 schools i applied to. ideally i'd like to have a handful to be confident of getting in this year, but i feel like my chances of getting any more are low since a lot of the first round interviews have been dished out already.

Don't worry. If you already had 2 interviews then you are obviously doing something right. Plus, you have a great DAT score. A lot of the schools haven't given out ALL of their invites yet. 🙂

Seriously? I'm at a loss... I have no idea why you didn't get in last year and are having trouble this year.

The best thing I can tell you is call all of the schools and have them confirm your application is complete.

how are ur recs did u get them for professors that u know pretty well. also was ur personal statement strong. i think that makes a difference.

i'm sure that my LOE's are not the issue and i think my PS was fine. dunno.

You know, a lot of people overlook their letters of rec and personal statement. Also, they overlook their application. I looked at my friend's girlfriend's application and personal statement (which she submitted already), and I found about 3 grammatical errors in her statement, and 2 words that were misspelled in her application.

I just had my interview at VCU, and one of my interviewers kept going on and on about my letters of rec and how all of my professors had so many nice things to say about my personality. Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to brag. I'm just pointing out that a lot of letters of rec can sound generic and most often are templates that professors use for their students. Just make sure that you ask people that know you well enough to give more of a detailed insight on your character.

And on the subject of generic, people need to spend more time on their personal statements. The whole "ever since my trip to (insert 3rd world country), where I taught a small child to floss correctly, I knew I wanted to become a dentist" story isn't going to cut it. You have thousands of applicants with the EXACT same stats as you who are applying for the same spots. Your personal statement is a way to make you stand out among the rest.

And then there's interviewing... I don't know much about this because I've only had one academic interview in my entire life, and that was last week at VCU. You should do what I did. I asked everyone I knew this question: "When you first met me, did I seem like a total douche bag to you?" If they hesitate, or laugh nervously before answering you (or if they say "yes"), then you should practice not being so douchey.

I'm not saying that GPA and DAT scores aren't important, because they are the most important things for an applicant. I'm just saying that they're not everything. So when you hear of people saying that they didn't get in with this awesome GPA and this amazing DAT score, don't freak out and think that you're never going to get into a school. There are a lot of other things to consider.

Oh yeah, I'm not trying to imply to anyone they they suck as a person or anything. I just think that this forum focuses too much on stats. And also, this is just my opinion. I'm not an expert on anything... except Dance Dance Revolution. Sadly, I'm pretty good at that.

This part had be laughing a good bit - nothing better than soliciting blunt feedback. That third world country bit also made me chuckle a bit. My sentiments were pretty similar after my service trip so South America, except it wasn't the flossing that did it for me.

I also don't have any interview bites yet either, so OP, you're not alone. Hope you get the chance to show them what you are made of.
