...trying to find a place that will hire me for 9 months before medical school!!!!! I'll be working for Kaplan but i'm hoping to find something else to keep me busy b/c i don't know how much time kaplan will occupy. i really, REALLY don't want to go back to waiting tables with a MS degree! Any ideas? :scared:

It's not easy, is it? 🙁 If you just need the money, maybe it's not such a bad idea to swallow your pride for a few more months. Seriously, I currently have a clinical research job, and it's not bad...but I'm getting paid almost a third of what I would've made in my previous career. I'm hurting for money.

Do you know where you are going yet? You might contact the school about any research opportunity positions at the school... kill 2 birds with one stone. You can also check at local community colleges... they often will need a lab instructor for a couple of classes per week - it doesn't pay much, but it's short term and gives you teaching experience to boot (always good for residency).
Good luck.

The key is not telling them you're going to med school.

that's what everyone tells me but i don't think i could sit with a straight face and tell them i'll be around...

i should look into the cc's i've had a lot of teaching experience already so it would be a natural transition... thanks for the heads up!

I had the same problem as you, and started searching places like craigslist for medical/clinical assistant jobs. A lot of these places are used to pre-meds coming in and working for a year, then leaving for medical school. Some (not all) will train you, so having an M.A. is not crucial. I just got a job as a clinical assistant at an ophthalmology/optometrist clinic in my city, and they were really cool about my medical school interest. It took a lot of resume/cover letter sending, but it was worth the time and effort. I am not being paid much, but it is enough to get me through the next 9 months. Good luck with the job search!
