Although i do find research interesting, i don't think this is what i want to be doing as a career. I am looking at possible options for graduate school, and pretty much every application procedure requires you to list research you would like to do and the faculty member you would like to do research under. I'm confused (and maybe ignorant about graduate school) but do you have to do research? I am more interested in the applied side, and would like to become a therapist or counselor of some kind eventually (as far as i know so far).

Thanks, i just have a couple of things i'm wondering.
Should i try for a terminal master's degree then? if I do, is the option of a doctorate degree in the future no longer an option should i be interested one day? also, are my options going to be more limited than if I were to go on to get a doctorate? i guess i want to keep my options open.

Yes.

No. It doesn't mean "terminal" in that way.

I think you'll find a wealth of information about various career trajectories if you:

a) use the search function to read previous threads on this topic (take a look at both masters and doctoral forums)

b) visit your state's behavioral licensing board website to learn more about what's really involved.

Based on what you've said in your above posts, it really does sound like a licensable masters degree is best for you.
