Hi all, wondering if anyone can give me some advice on this. Im a DO student from westernu and am really wanting to get into a nice sized university IM program bc i wanna be able to have a good shot at fellowships afterwards. I would love to stay in cali but am open to go anywhere else (no family around). My class grades are pretty decent/deans list, but unfortunately my board score for step one is only slightly above average on comlex and slightly below on USMLE. So can anyone suggest some big university programs for IM that i could have a realistic shot at? Any state? (im not from this area originally so im very uninformed on what residency programs are avail. at each state)
I was also looking at USC....but how realistic do u think that goal is?
thank you for ur time

i know from my third year clerkship on IM at the university of arizona one of the fellows in cardiology is a DO and he graduated from the residency program. he really knows his stuff. according to the residents the program is known for placing graduates into fellowships...especially cardiology. best of luck.

Try to find an IM advisor (PD at your school? Chair?) who can give you more insight than many of us can. Good luck.
