😕 ok, so i was "declined acceptance" to Indiana U. +pity+
so i'm over it.

but now as i'm dutifully filling out my 2005 AMCAS, i'm wondering about my personal statement. should i call IU and find out why they rejected me? should i ask them about my PS? i don't know what to do 😕 and i'm almost too scared to call for fear of them blowing me off.

any suggestions? should i rewrite the PS? should i just swallow my pride 😳 and call them? please help!!!

rae.

Change your PS. Nothing drastic, as the reasons why you want to be a doctor and the siutations and people that influened this decision havent changed. You could add a line or two about this situation perhaps, as reapplying does show maturity and dedication to the pursuit of becoming a doctor.

As far as calling, you know the answer. No one but you can push the buttons on the phone and give these folks a call. The sooner you have an idea to work from as to why it didnt work this time, the sooner your mind will be at ease, and the sooner you can make the proper adjustments to this years application. You gotta be proactive, because no one's gonna give you an answer till you ask the questions. It has to be daunting though, but much like a band-aid, I think the quick strike method will do wonders. Get the info and be able to move on and focus on this years app cycle. Put it behind you, the sooner , the better. Good luck! 👍

Calling the school for which you seek admission to find out specifically how to fix your application is the best resource you have as a re-applicant in my opinion. It worked for me as I am sure it has worked for many others.

Yes, you should ask them everything. I told the admissions person I spoke with to let me have it, no holds barred. I won't lie to you, some of the things she said stung a little bit but in the end she really helped me.
